About C&D Heritage Golden Retreivers

At C&D Heritage Golden Retrievers we believe in selectively breeding for health, temperament, and size in an effort to make as many working dog prospects and well-rounded family dogs as possible while staying within breed standard. From the minute these beautiful creations enter into the world we begin the prosses of making sure they are healthy. For the first 14 days we do Early Neurological Stimulation (aka ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (aka ESI).  ENS helps improve puppies' neurological development and stress tolerance, leading to better welfare outcomes later in life. ESI Early Scent Introduction (ESI) introduces newborn puppies to different natural scents during a critical window of brain development in the first 2 weeks of life.  This period is highly receptive for forming associations, and ESI helps puppies develop a strong sense of smell, confidence, and adaptability. In weeks 3-8 we begin group potty training and a modified version of Puppy Culture. Puppy culture is used to shape a puppies emotional and social skills. It includes sight, touch and sound desensitizing, handling, exposure and intense socialization. 

At 7 Weeks old all of our puppies are temperament tested and rated on their reactions to a variety of tests. Once the testing is completed by our trainer, Alyse Honnold at Purely Balanced K9 Training, she tallies up each puppy's total and goes over each puppy's strengths, weaknesses and what type of home each puppy would best fit in to. 

Our most important task is making sure we find the right families for each puppy we have. I love providing lifetime breeder support to our new puppy owners and getting updates as our babies grow in their new homes.
